The Missionaries
Victor and Griselda have known each other since they were 10 years old. They became best friends when they married one another at 23 years old. They both came to a saving knowledge of Jesus at about that same time.
They attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa’s Spanish ministry during this time. Eight years later, they moved to St. George, UT, and had a burden to minister to the Spanish community. Through God’s mercy, they were able to establish a Spanish ministry at Calvary Chapel St. George. In 2023, they started a Spanish ministry at Calvary Chapel Hurricane Valley.
They believed the Lord was calling them somewhere else, but they never dreamed He would call them back to their hometown of San Gregorio, Michoacan, Mexico. They had planned to retire and build a home close to the US border in Rosarito, Mexico, but God changed their plans. With much joy, they sold their property in Rosarito and purchased property in San Gregorio to start building their home. Their desire was to start a Bible ministry there. After much work, their home was ready to move into, and they relocated to San Gregorio in June 2025.
They are so grateful to the Lord that they can serve their people in the very town where they were both born.
Praise God!

The People
San Gregorio, Michoacan, Mexico, is a very small town surrounded by agriculture. The area grows a large variety of produce. Most people work in the fields, and some work in home construction. San Gregorio was established around the early 1900’s. The altitude is about 5000 feet above sea level. The population consists of around 2,000 people. It is located an hour and a half from Guadalajara International Airport. The people in San Gregorio are traditionally Catholic but do not typically practice Catholicism. Many of them do not attend mass regularly but go only to comply with the rituals and sacraments that their religion requires so they can identify as Catholics. Most of them still defend their religion; they do not even realize that it is not their religion they are defending, but the traditions they are expected to perform in that religion. The local Catholic priest is very defensive about other faiths moving into town. He is verbally aggressive and threatens to excommunicate any of his followers if they even visit another church or consider a different belief system. Sadly, people continue with their empty lives. Many of the youth are lost to drug addiction and the corruption of organized crime. It is very sad to see so many people still living in darkness.
The Ministry
After three years of praying and seeking guidance from God and other brothers in Christ, God confirmed His will and called them to San Gregorio, Mexico. They started visiting San Gregorio more frequently to better understand the needs of the people and to gain a vision of what the Lord was calling them to do. They thank the Lord for the house they have been able to build, which was specifically built with the goal in mind of hosting teams and mission-minded people who desire to come alongside and join in ministering to this community with them. They are looking forward to teams coming to minister with them, and they have room to accommodate them.
Right now, they desire to be a positive presence in the community and teach/show them Jesus. They are currently offering Sunday services, as well as Wednesday and Friday Bible studies, along with other activities throughout the year.
They pray that the Lord will raise up disciples, in His name, to come alongside in reaching out to those in their community and that He would provide willing servants to help with the needs of the different ministries here in San Gregorio.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
God bless you abundantly!
