The Family
We arrived on the spiritually “hostile territory” of the Czech Republic on July 25, 2005. We planned to spend three months in the town where Milan grew up –in Roudnice nad Labem, half an hour drive from Prague, the capital of CR. Then we thought we would settle in Moravia and plant a church there. As we witnessed to family and friends and other people in Roudnice, the Lord made it clear to us that three months were nothing –to get through to the peoples’ hardened hearts, it would take years. So we settled in Roudnice. Our precious daughter Charis was born in 2008. The devil sure would not leave us alone even in her birth. The birth was a 14 hour ordeal and she was born nearly dead. There was a moment I thought I would lose both my daughter and my beloved wife. I yelled to God –and He had mercy! Charis is the first person in CR registered with the name “Charis” = NT Greek for Grace.
The People
The Czech nation has a rich and violent history dating back to the 6th century AD, when Slavic Czech Tribes arrived from East to Mt. Rip, which is near where we live. Despite the rich spiritual heritage, the communist regime from 1948 to 1989 caused huge damage to the spirituality of Czech nation.
Today, the Czech Republic “boasts” of being the most atheist country in Europe and perhaps in the world. Last year the main paper published an article that said the Czech Republic will be the first “religion-free” country in the world. I think they are wrong, as God keeps a faithful remnant in every country.
The spiritual battles here are pretty severe, even surreal. Many Christians fall away and sometimes even we hang on a thin thread. It is not that we’d be so weak. It is just so spiritually brutal. Yet God empowers us to deal with such a hostile environment and to effectively spread the Gospel through various outreaches, ministries, and daily one-on-one witnessing.
I suspect that the tiny Czech Republic in the heart of Europe will play a very important role in the end time events- unfortunately, a dark role. We call it “Antichrist’s backyard.” The famous politician of the 19th century, Otto Von Bismarc said: “He who masters Bohemia (Czech land), masters Europe.” Seems like the devil took his advice.
We have this honor to suffer for Christ here. Not physically, but mentally and spiritually. Every single soul ripped out of the devil’s claws here takes a huge effort. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.

The Ministry
Every time I visited my parents in CR, while I was living in the US, the Lord asked me: “Milan, would you come back here and share the Gospel with these people?” I was reluctant to say, “yes” to coming here permanently. I thus resisted the Lord nearly ten years. I kept saying, “Lord, I escaped from the communist oppression, I don’t want to come back here.” Then, during my visit in 2002, the Lord asked a different question: “Milan, would you come here to share the Gospel with these people, or should I send SOMEONE ELSE?! I felt a stab of conviction in my heart. It was time to stop living for myself and start living for others. I gave up a lucrative career in the US and became a “fool for Christ” here.
The Lord inspired me to write several penetrating Gospel tracts, and to date we gave out over 120.000 of them, hundreds of Bibles, thousands of New Testaments, hundreds of Christian movie DVDs, Christian music CDs, books and other Christian materials. We have actually become one of major distributors of Christian materials here – and thanks to our faithful supporters we have been able to give out those important and effective materials free of charge.
We planted a church 7 years ago, as the new converts needed to be made into disciples of Christ. We continue to hold regular Sunday morning services and weekly Bible studies in two towns. We also continue in daily personal witnessing and occasional public outreaches. While most people tend to backslide after a few years, there are those who continue to hold on to Christ and grow. Praise God!
